Buffalo Chamber Music Society -2008/09 Season

Education

In 1994 the Buffalo Chamber Music Society expanded it’s season to include educational concerts. Since 1994 the Society has presented 63 school concerts. These informal sessions provide students the opportunity to hear world renowned chamber ensembles perform in their schools. These school visits include master classes, mini-recitals and always end with a question and answer period. This outreach program is provided free of charge and is the Buffalo Chamber Music Society’s contribution to music education in our schools.

Silverman Scholarship

In 2002 the Buffalo Chamber Music Society established a scholarship to be given annually to a string student in Erie County who is going on to pursue a career in music.
The auditions are held annually in March in collaboration with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.

The Silverman Scholarship named in memory of Clare and Oscar Silverman has now been expanded to include up to three recipients each year.

Winners of this Scholarship have attended such prestigious music schools as The Juilliard School, Indiana University , Eastman School of Music, Oberlin, The Cleveland Institute and the Manhattan School of Music
