Since it's London debut in 1986, Fretwork has given concerts and broadcast round the world, made numerous highly successful recordings, set new standards in the performance of the great English music for viol consort, and generated a living repertory for the medium. Their program to open our series is entitled "Jewish Musicians at the English Court."

Winners of the prestigious KLR award Con Brio Copenhagen belongs since its formation in Vienna 1999 to the elite list of most exciting young piano trios performing today. Their program will include the "Ghost" Trio by Beethoven, a work written for the Trio by Bent Sorensen, and Smetana's Piano Trio in G minor.

Subsequent to their performance on our Gift to the Community series in 2007 the Jupiter String Quartet has joined the ranks of exceptional young string quartets on the musical stage today. Winners of the Cleveland Quartet Award in 2007, their performance on our series is made possible by the Cleveland Quartet Award Endowment Fund. Their program will include quartets by Mendelssohn, Beethoven and Thomas Ades.

"DISCOVERY" is the word that best describes Musicians from Marlboro, the touring ensembles -newly created each season-that travel nationwide to share the inspired music-making heard each summer in Vermont. An annual event on our series made possible by a generous grant from Peter and Joan Andrews Foundation, the Musicians form Marlboro performance this season will feature a quartet by Haydn, the Duo for Violin and Cello by Kodaly and the Clarinet Quintet by Brahms.

Returning for their fifth performance, the Muir Sting Quartet will be joined by the venerable pianist of the Beaux Arts Trio Menahem Pressler for a performance of Brahms' monumental Piano Quintet. The program will also include quartets by Mozart and Schulhof.

Capping off an unprecedented 45 years as the most revered and enduring ensemble of it's kine in the world, the Guarneri String Quartet has announced it's retirement at the completion of the 1008-09 season. Their final performance on our series will include quartets by Haydn, Kodaly and Ravel.:
