The Takács Quartet remains one of the world's most illustrious chamber ensembles. Founded in 1975 by four students at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, the ensemble won a string of awards, toured the United States and became quartet-in-residence at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Only one of the founding members remain, the cellist Andras Fejer, but the ensemble maintains a stellar performance standard.
