Silverman Scholarships

In 2002 the Buffalo Chamber Music Society established a scholarship to be given annually to a string student in Erie County who is going on to pursue a career in music. Named in honor of Clare and Oscar Silverman, the scholarship has been expanded to include up to three recipients each year. Winners of the Silverman Scholarship have attended such prestigious music schools as The Juilliard School, the Jacobs School of Music of Indiana University, the Eastman School of Music, the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, the Cleveland Institute of Music, the Curtis Institute of Music and the Manhattan School of Music. Many have gone on to pursue careers as professional musicians and some are teaching the next generation of musicians.
